Tuxedo and Wedding Suit Ideas for Your Warm-Weather Wedding

According to data collection firm Priceonomics, the majority of American weddings happen in the six months between May and October. It makes sense that couples would want to get married when the weather is more likely to be warm and sunny. If you are having your wedding during this time period, or you are a guest at a spring or summer wedding, it’s important that you find a way to look your best while also staying comfortable. Here are some tips from the men’s wedding attire experts at Ventresca Ltd. to help you choose a tuxedo or suit for warm-weather weddings:

Consider the Venue and Time of Day

The location where your wedding is held will be a big part of determining what type of wedding suit or tuxedo is appropriate. For traditional wedding venues like churches, a more traditional tuxedo will look the best, especially if the wedding is held in the evening. That’s not to say that wedding suits are out of the question, but a dark tuxedo or suit will match the formality of the location.

On the other hand, if your wedding will be held outdoors, at the beach, at a farm, or at any other less formal location, a black-tie tux might seem a bit stuffy. For these types of locations, and for weddings held before 4:00 pm, you might want to consider a light-colored suit or tuxedo.

Choose a Material and Color

Most warm-weather wedding suits and tuxes are made from breathable materials like cotton, linen, or wool blends. Some materials lend themselves better to certain venues; for example, a linen suit is always a great option for a beach wedding.

As for colors, warm-weather wedding attire is usually on the lighter side. You might want to choose a tux or suit that is light grey, blue, beige, or cream.

For Guests: Check the Invitation

If you are attending a warm-weather wedding, your options may be more limited. Read the invitation carefully; if it says black tie, you will look out of place wearing anything other than a black or navy tuxedo. A dark-colored wedding suit can also be appropriate, as long as the pants match the jacket. If the invitation does not state black tie, a wedding suit will be fine, and the venue and time of day will dictate color and material.
